Teflon Seal

Graphite reinforced PTFE--polytetrafluoroethylene (ptfe, also known as Teflon, Teflon or F4) has a molecular structure similar to polyethylene (pe), forming a linear structure.

The seal expands as pressure is introduced – increasing the sealing force beyond that provided by the spring and the jacket material.

PTFE on its own has excellent frictional properties, elasticity and wear resistance but relatively poor mechanical strength and tends to fail in high PV applications.

Carbon fiber-added high-grade PTFE has good abrasion resistance and low friction performance, suitable for reciprocating and rotating applications, and in the medium environment with poor lubrication.

Jacket profiles are made from PTFE and other high performance polymers. Spring types are available in corrosion-resistant alloys, including stainless steel, Elgiloy and Hastelloy.

High performance seals and wipers. It is an extremely versatile material. The addition of Bronze to PTFE gives better dimensional stability and lowers creep, cold flow and wear.

Designed for speeds up to 3000 ft./min, this seal features a metal locking ring that prevents rotation and promotes consistent sealing contact in thermal cycling conditions.

PCTFE is a crystalline polymer with a melting point of 425F and a density of 2.13 g / cc (grams per cubic centimeter).
