Pump seals featuring static spring energization and PTFE material
Introduction:
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) spring-energized pump static seals are a type of sealing solution used in pumps and other fluid handling systems to prevent leakage of fluids. These seals are designed to provide reliable, long-lasting sealing performance in high-pressure and high-temperature applications.
The seals are made from PTFE, a synthetic fluoropolymer known for its excellent chemical resistance and low coefficient of friction. The PTFE material used in spring-energized seals is specially formulated to provide enhanced wear resistance and resilience in demanding environments.
The spring energization of these seals comes from a metallic spring element that is encapsulated within the PTFE material. The spring applies a constant radial force on the seal, ensuring a tight seal against the mating surface. This spring energization also allows the seal to compensate for wear and other dimensional changes in the sealing system.
