Seals Made Of Polymer And Metal Springs
High-performance polymer resins that are formulated and treated for best performance in a variety of sealing situations are the materials utilized to make the seal jackets. The spring, which gives the seal jacket long-lasting robustness and makes up for material deterioration and hardware misalignment or eccentricity, is the second crucial component. The spring loading can be designed and engineered to handle critical low friction requirements in dynamic applications or extreme high loading frequently required for cryogenic sealing. When the spring is under compression, the jacket lips are forced against the gland walls and create a leak-tight seal. Springs are made of fluid-compatible corrosion-resistant metals such as Inconel®, Elgiloy®, Hastelloy®, and 300 Series.
