How spring energized seals work
When the spring energized sealing ring is installed in the sealing groove, the spring is compressed, causing the lip of the jacket to press against the sealing groove, thereby forming a seal.
Due to the sealing effect of the sealing sleeve, it needs to be in contact with the surface of the groove, so it requires low friction coefficient, high strength, wear resistance, resistance to working media, and resistance to high and low temperatures in the working environment.
The metal spring provides pressure to the external sealing sleeve. Especially when the internal pressure is low, zero or even negative, springs are the only source of sealing pressure.
