Rubber back up ring is used with O-Ring to increase its bearing pressure.

When the O-ring is in a static seal,

The inner diameter is less than 50mm, the pressure is greater than 10MPA, and back up ring is required

The inner diameter is greater than 50mm, the pressure is greater than 5MPA, and back up ring is required

When the O-ring is in dynamic seal,

The pressure is greater than 5MPA, back up ring is required.
