Purpose of Hydraulic Seal
Hydraulic seals are rings similar to gaskets designed to seal the areas between components in hydraulic cylinders. Hydraulic cylinders contain many different components, some of which are exposed to the fluid. To prevent liquid leakage around these components, hydraulic seals were used. Hydraulic seals are designed to install components in hydraulic cylinders while forming leak proof seals around the components.
Hydraulic seals are essentially O-rings. However, there is a groove inside their lip that allows them to install the components used. The groove will slide on the component to form a leak proof seal. Even if the piston of the hydraulic cylinder moves and the fluid is pressurized, the component will not leak. Hydraulic seals will keep the fluid in an appropriate container, preventing leakage around the components.
