Polymer materials commonly used in the aerospace field include the following:

 

1. Carbon fibre reinforced composites: carbon fibre is a high strength, high modulus, low density material that can be used to manufacture components such as the fuselage, wings and rudder surfaces of aerospace vehicles to improve the stiffness and strength of the fuselage and reduce weight.

 

2. Aromatic polymer materials: aromatic polymers have excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance and radiation resistance, suitable for high temperature, high pressure aerospace environment. The most commonly used of these are polyimide (PAI), polyetherketone (PEEK) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).

 

3. Polyamide (PA): Polyamide is a high-strength, high-toughness material that can be used to manufacture transmission components, seals and electrical components for aerospace vehicles.

 

4. Polystyrene (PS): polystyrene is a lightweight, transparent material, can be used to manufacture aviation and spacecraft food packaging, insulation materials and observation windows, etc.

 

5. Polyurethane (PU): Polyurethane is a flexible, wear-resistant and chemically resistant material, suitable for the manufacture of cushioning materials, seals and sound insulation materials for aerospace vehicles.

 

6. Polypropylene (PP): Polypropylene is a low-density, high-strength material that can be used to make interior trim, windshields and insulation materials for aerospace vehicles.
